Our awareness can extend infinitely beyond the body.
There is no distinction between the interior space of the body and the space beyond.
In Yin breathing we are looking at the space within our body
Yin refers to feminine space, the feminine reality in the body.
The yin space is in the lower belly (approx. the size of an egg). You can refer to this space as the:
lower dan t’ien — Taoist meditation
Hara - Chan & Zen meditation
Secret Center - Tibetan Tantra
In the practicing lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, the main practice is breathing into the lower dan t’ien, rather than putting attention at the tip of the nose.
As we meditate, simply breathe into the lower dan t’ien.
Explore how the experience, the space, and your awareness evolve.
It’s a miraculous gateway into the most primordial space in our body, the “original womb”, out of which all energy & life arises.
It’s a portal through which we tap into primal, unformed energy of the universe itself (chaos), into the quantum emptiness of the cosmos (microcosm) as experienced in the human body (microcosm).
Through the yin space we access our life force. We are talking about connecting with our source. The space within the yin space is continually giving birth to life energy.
As we explore the yin space, we maintain constant curiosity by asking:
what is going on here?
what am i sensing or feeling?
what is this, right now?
At some point there won’t be any you.
There will just be breathing itself.
You will suddenly realize you can’t find the edges of the yin space.
You may find yourself not in the space of the body but just in space.
The yin space is utter peace itself.
You can do yin breathing at any time in the day in any place as a way to bring yourself back and reconnect with source.
